Violence- and Trauma-Informed Prevention Micro-Mapped within the Social Discipline Window

This restorative practices teaching session will introduce a Violence and Trauma Informed Micro-Map for integrating Family Violence Intervention within Preventive/Early Intervention community-based support and services. This micro-map embeds individualistic neurological research within a community-based, de-colonizing, restorative practices approach to historical and ongoing interpersonal and structural violence. Participants will learn about the Trauma Informed Family Violence Prevention Model developed by the presenters for the Public Health Agency of Canada in 2015. Participants will also learn about the practical components of a resulting Preventive/Early Intervention prototype being implemented in Nova Scotia, and the Outreach, Family Support and Community Hub coordination of services supporting this initiative.
