Karen Sorensen, M.A., MFT

Karen is a restorative justice advisor for Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), California, USA, responsible for training and supporting 110 schools in implementing restorative justice practices. She is an adjunct professor at a local college, teaching a graduate course, Safe and Healthy Learning Environment, focusing on restorative justice practices, social emotional learning (SEL) and positive behavior intervention and support (PBIS). She previously worked as a Safe and Healthy Schools Facilitator in LAUSD, conducting district-wide trainings in the Second Step program; prior to this, she was a K-12 school psychologist in LAUSD and a clinical supervisor in a mental health agency.
